Draw Water with a Sieve

In the picture presented to us, a man draws water with a sieve. Like sand through the fingers, water leaks out through the sieve. Therefore, the meaning of the picture can be deduced as such, all one’s effort proves fruitless without effective methods, or simply put, pain without gain.

Although the principle is simple and easy to understand, not everyone can stick to it at every turn. A case in point is the college students who start their own business with enthusiasm and aspirations but without business acumen, managerial experience and financial support. The result turns out that for every success story there are hundreds who will fall by the wayside. Therefore, for the losers their devotion is futile. In addition, in our daily life, if we pursue unpractical goals, we are foredoomed to failure and we may spoil a horn in trying to make a spoon. For example, envious of medal-winners, some people set goals to become famous athletes, but meet their waterloo at length for lack of natural endowments.

To sum up, we have to draw a lesson from the picture. For one thing, we shouldn’t aim too high so as not to make futile efforts. For another, before we act we should think thrice to make sure that we adopt the most effective method.

Do not Underestimate Petty Things in Our Life

In the picture presented to us, we can see both tall trees and little grass are the masters of the earth. However, in our daily life, people usually attach great importance to “big trees” but ignore the “little grass”. Therefore, it is quite necessary to raise people’s awareness of valuing petty things.

As an old saying goes “A small leak will sink a great ship”, which means even small holes, if not being patched, will bring about serious consequences. In addition, Voltaire once said that it is not the distant mountain that makes you tired but a grain of sand in your shoes. Thus in our daily life, it is quite necessary to have the sand poured in no time. What is more, the tiredness resulting from the trivial often makes you at a loss. The truth is that trivial things may wear people out.

All in all, in reality, we should remember that sometimes we are not defeated by enormous challenges and threats but some very petty and trivial things. So we should value the things equally.

The Tendency of Jealousy

In the picture, a cock and a hen are holding a saw in their hands, preparing to cut the beautiful legs of the crane. From the words on the saw, we may well conclude that it is jealousy that causes the foolish act of the cock and the hen. Thus, the picture vividly illustrates that the tendency of jealousy is prevailing in our society, which is very harmful either in our daily life or in our work.

As is well-known to all, jealousy is the killer of friendship and harmony. Without the determination to eliminate jealousy, we can never enjoy cooperation and friendship both in work and daily life. Further more, too much jealousy will definitely hinder a man from concentrating on his work wholeheartedly. Thus, there is no denying that due attention should be attached to the project of eliminating jealousy.

Considering the above analysis, we shouldfeel no hesitated toput our ideas into practice.Firstly, it is wise for us to shift our attention from others’ merits to our own advantages, which would be helpful to eliminate the jealousy in our heart.
