On Social Morality

In recent years, some people show disrespect for social morality. As is shown in the picture, a man is heroically striding across a railing along the center of a road with two cars racing alongside him. It can be easily seen that the drawer intends to criticize the decline in social morality of some people.

Untold problems arise in the wake of people’s disregard of social morality. First of all, the people who don’t observe social ethics are in danger. Just as the picture depicts, the man may get injured by the cars when crossing the railing. Secondly, if everyone cares about nothing more than his own interest regardless of moral and ethics, for example, nobody gives up his seat for the old, the pregnant or the sick in the crowded bus, then the general mood of society couldn’t be any worse and a harmonious society would be an unrealistic Utopian dream.

Confronted with such an issue, any right-thinking man should spring into action because “it is better to fight for good than to rail at the ill”. He should first of all make changes in himself, trying to abide by discipline and laws, observe social ethics, and maintain public order. Furthermore, he should mobilize the people around him to behave in accordance with social ethics. To conclude, from individuals all the way to the whole society, such moral principles as public virtues should be observed conscientiously.

The Last Straw for the Students

What an impressive picture! Although it is ten p.m., the whole family are still busy with the boy’s homework which tasks all their minds. Obviously, what the drawing symbolically illustrates is that nowadays students bear too much pressure from academic study. While the phenomenon reflected by the picture is prevalent, we should give it some careful thought.

Can much academic pressure motivate the students and maximize their potentials? Not necessarily. Just as a proverb goes, too much water drowned the miller; too much pressure may produce exactly the opposite results. On the one hand, it deprives the students of the interest in and the passion for learning. On the other hand, the excessive stress from study poses a great threat to students’health. Last but not least, too much homework takes up most of their time, preventing them from extracurricular activities, which is a great loss to their all-round development.

Accordingly, it is high time to take some measures to make a change. First, the reform of education should be further carried out alongside with the promotion of quality education. Second, teachers should know better than to assign the students abundant mindless, repetitive and fruitless homework. All in all, effective measures must be adopted to reduce the load of the students.

Haste Makes Waste

In the picture presented to us, a little boy is required by his parent to learn early-MBA courses. From the books pilled up in the left, we may safely say that the parent is hoping for something impractical. Thus, the phenomenon hiding behind is that parents of today are expecting too much too soon when educating their children.

There are many reasons explaining this trend. The most important one is no other than the violent competition among talents, which makes parents attach unprecedented attention to their children’s early education. What is more, as a result of the birth control policy, the only child has become the apple of the parents’eyes. Consequently, the child is considered the only hope of the family and also the dream-carrier of their parents. Thirdly, with the development of the economy, more families can afford to spend more money on children’s education.

Considering all these reasons, I think it’s high time for parents to change their attitude towards their kids’education. For one thing, children’s early education should be in line with their intellectual development. For anther, parents should know that children’s education ought to be interest-and-knowledge-oriented. Only in this way, can children grow up physically and psychologically.
